Admissions

Founder's Note

Dear Parents,

Welcome! We sincerely appreciate your interest in AIS.

AIS celebrated its 20th anniversary two years back, and during these years, we have remained committed to our original mission - to inspire a passion for lifelong learning, foster social and emotional sensitivity, and develop a student’s imaginative mind.

At AIS, we believe that the most important objective of a school education is to help children prepare for the future. We are living in a world that is changing rapidly. To prepare our students for a world that is changing at a never-before-seen rate, the essence of what we call ‘education’ needs to continuously keep evolving. As a school community, we have been asking ourselves several questions over the last one year:

  • What should learning in the 21st century look like?
  • What really is the role of the teacher in a world where information is available at the click of a button?
  • What is the best way to engage students in the classroom?

Pondering over these questions, we have realised that classrooms today need to mirror the outside world to make learning real and pragmatic. Acting on this realisation, we are in the process of implementing a comprehensive technology program at the school with a goal to make learning more engaging and deeply personalised.

Please visit the following pages for more information about the admissions process - important dates , eligibility criteria, admissions FAQs.

If you have any questions about our program or process, email our admissions team at admission@aischool.net .

I look forward to meeting you and interacting with you in person.

Wishing you and your child all the success in the world!

Warmly,
Gorsi

Curriculum Choices

Flexibility in curriculum choices allows our students to pursue the college of their choice. Up to grade 7, all students follow a common curriculum. From Grades 1-5, we follow the IB-PYP while for Grades 6 & 7 we follow the Cambridge checkpoint based curriculum. For grades 8 to 10, students can choose between CAIE-IGCSE and Gujarat State Board SSC. Grades 11 and 12 students choose from IBDP, Cambridge AS & A Levels, and the Gujarat State Board HSC.

Primary Years

AIS is a recognised IB World School, and follows the IB-PYP program from Grades 1 to 5. The program focuses on helping students become problem solvers and inquirers by letting them take ownership of their learning. The program strives to help every student think independently and come up with their own answers.

The admissions assessments are in English and Math and Science. We have students who come from different curriculums, both national and international. The assessments are largely skill based and test for ability levels expected in the grade that the student is applying for.

Students at AIS bring their own lunch to school

Students of primary years are taught English, Math, Hindi, Gujarati, Science and Social Studies.
The subjects are taught in a transdisciplinary way to avoid fragmented approach. Six Transdisciplinary Themes provide the framework for exploration and construction of knowledge. Teachers and students are guided by these Transdisciplinary Themes—as they design units of inquiry for exploration and study. Through this process, students develop an understanding of important concepts, acquire essential skills and knowledge, develop particular attitudes and learn to take socially responsible action.

The languages are taught in school and no prior knowledge is required

Yes, students can switch boards. The school supports the students to ensure a smooth transition.

We offer French to students from Grade 8 onwards.

The IB is more about an ethos of an educational style - the three higher-level subjects are demanding, and are aimed at taking the student to a deeper level of knowledge. The A-levels place more emphasis on individual subject knowledge. A levels has four to five subjects studied in depth, whereas the IBDP has six subjects, and also has a compulsory core programme comprising of Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and an evaluation of a student’s CAS (Creativity, Action and Service).

CBSE & ICSE/GSEB syllabus is approached in a theoretical manner. In IB more focus is laid on practical application of concepts in the form of projects.
The IB curriculum equips students with the tools needed to succeed in higher education, such as self-confidence, preparedness, research skills, organizational skills and being actively engaged in self learning.

Recipients of the internationally recognized programs, enjoy a high rate of acceptance at leading universities abroad.
