Welcome to AIMUN

Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

The Ahmedabad International School Model United Nations (AIMUN) aims to mould students as peace loving, global citizens who engage in dialogues, discussions, negotiations and debates to reach consensual goals.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the UN organs. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization's agenda. While playing their roles as ambassadors, student "delegates" make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries and resolve multinational problems and conflicts.

Delegates become familiar with the inner workings of UN. It also helps students to become familiar with the country’s history, culture, political structure, and current political affairs. In this conference we learn about country's viewpoints on many issues. The students become familiar with current statistical data on their topic and country. Delegates learn how the global community acts on its concerns.

During a simulation delegates must employ a variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the policies of their country. These skills include public speaking, Diplomacy, small group communications, research, policy analysis, active listening, negotiating, compromising, note taking, and technical writing.

Ahmedabad International School is the proud host of Third AIMUN 2009. We are looking forward to welcoming you to AIMUN this October……
