AIMUN executive Board
Message from the ECOSOC Chair
To the ECOSOC delegates,
Welcome to the February 2009 ECOSOC conference. The agenda for our two day meeting is “Developing regional strategies to combat international food crisis”.
The state of food insecurity world over is deeply disturbing, although signs of improvement are visible in several developing regions. The food crisis is a multifaceted, complex problem, with the underlying causes more numerous and diverse than expected. Thus, the possibility of developing a world-over global strategic framework is minimal. We must look at individual regions and identify feasible solutions.
During committee, we will be discussing the present scenario in all the regions, and the gaps identified by the UN. As our goal for this conference, we aim to find solutions, new strategies, and future plans to work towards achieving MDG 1.
