AFFILIATIONS :: UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATION

Cambridge International Examination
Cambridge International Examinations is one of the world's leading providers of international qualifications and assessments. CIE is part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) which is a department of the world-renowned University of Cambridge. UCLES has three divisions and CIE operates alongside OCR, which provides examination and assessment services in the UK, and the Cambridge ESOL, which delivers a portfolio of qualifications in English for speakers of other languages.

Background
Since 1858, UCLES has developed and prompted qualifications in an increasing number of countries around the world. Every year , millions of entries are received for CIE assessments. The need for internationally recognized qualifications has continued to grow rapidly, and in recognition of this, CIE was formally established within UCLES in 1998. Its remit is to provide qualifications that meet the more specific demands of international students, and to provide dedicated service and support to a growing network of Centers.

What can Cambridge do?
CIE recognizes that parents, teachers, students and school or college administers are all involved in the process of education.

Parents want their children to receive quality education and to gain prestigious qualifications. Parents would also prefer their children to take the examinations for such qualifications either in their own school or at a suitable venue nearby.

Students want their time at school to be interesting, enjoyable and rewarding. They also want to gain skills, knowledge and qualifications that will prepare them for an excellent career, further education and for life in general.

Teachers not only want to teach courses that are stimulating both for themselves and their students, but also feel confident that their students' efforts will be suitably rewarded. They need to be confident when delivering courses and feel they obtain support for improving their own professional skills.

School administrator want students to enjoy their time at school and want parents to support the curriculum offered. They need highly skilled staff and a supportive, efficient examinations administration board that they can deal with in a cost effective way.

At CIE, we aim to address all of these needs through appropriate syllabus and assessment design, teacher support (including training ) and software packages for examinations administrators. We aim to facilitate high quality education within an environment that is both stimulating and productive.

Why choose a course leading to a Cambridge qualification?
Cambridge qualifications and awards encourage the development of important skills, problem solving techniques and evaluation. CIE learning programs are stimulating and varied, making them interesting for both students and teachers. Students gain skills and knowledge, valued by universities in interesting and relevant contexts. Cambridge qualifications are recognized worldwide with IGCSE and A Levels as the most popular ones.
